Beni Fabrics manufactures in Nantong, a city on the northern bank of the Yangtze about two hours from Shanghai. Nantong has been weaving cotton for generations and is home to the largest home-textile district in the world. It's the kind of place where the craft is in the water. We chose it because the people there have been making sheets long before anyone was branding them, and it shows in every hem.
We're a small brand, and we make small runs on purpose. It means the same team finishes every order, from the first cut of fabric to the last stitch on the hem, and it means we actually know their names. We've sat at their tables, shared lunch, watched a sheet go through its final check with the kind of attention you'd give something for your own home. We wanted a factory that felt like a workshop, not a warehouse, and in Nantong we found one. The mill is Certification, OEKO-TEX audited, but honestly, what reassures us most is that we've been there, and we keep going back.
Our cotton is certified organic under the Global Organic Textile Standard. GOTS means no synthetic pesticides, no genetically modified seed, and a paper trail we can follow from the field all the way to your bed. Organic cotton takes longer to grow. The yield is smaller and the season is slower, and the farmers who choose it are choosing the harder road because they care about their soil and the people who work it. That care ends up in the fibre. It's why our Beni Bed covers feel the way they do, and why we wouldn't make them any other way.
